Kanoh is one of the original Gesshoku: Otsutsuki born and not bred from the fruits of this world Kanoh is quite literally ageless in that he had stopped counting in how long it has been - and he's not even the oldest. This is just one more stop on his way to what he believes is the 'divine fruit' - beyond that of the fruit he had devoured in time past and eventually the nexus event will come in something so pure that the Gesshoku will simply transcend. This is business as usual: this is no more or less his remit... but the difficulty has been something new this time around...[break][break]
Taking various forms over the life cycle of the hundreds of years, between helping to instigate the warring shinobi era, spreading his seed across the land to muddy the bloodlines and dilute them across the world (and thereby increasing the 'yield' of chakra) he has been one of the many helping hands that guide chakra that will all inevitably flow toward Shinju. Unlike some of his brothers, Kanoh sees his brothers as no different to an extension of himself. The phrase 'I am the circle and the circle is me' is a phrase born by him millenia prior that was his acceptance of the emblematic rise and fall of worlds. [break][break]
What the Gesshoku could not have expected was that this world would transcend his own imagination and capabilities. It was during the warring clans era that Kanoh saw that these humans were so... delicious. Their chakra had exceeded all expectations, being utilized in new and exciting ways that even Kanoh hadn't thought of - and that really was something. These humans had outdone every expectation and there it was that Kanoh had a thought. 'Did the divine fruit sprout here?' Kanoh held a belief that he'd formed that they weren't just set out to be gods. They were set out to be entities beyond time, entities beyond cognition and came to believe that their work would not be for nothing. That every single fruit devoured would eventually lead to the nexus event, the purest seed that would let their bodies and souls transform beyond reality itself. [break][break]
Seeing what these humans had been capable of - he began to take a more passive approach. A nurturing approach: help a Shinobi here, bring a clan to an end there in what would be the selective pruning throughout history of those who would ultimately bare the best fruit. Kanoh had done it so many times over to insert and receed from known history, people were easy to forget. He had been a past of every ninja village, at least at some point in time. All while taking direction from the first seat in what would inevitably be their guiding principal. But it got more delicious.[break][break]
Then, the Bijuu were put to use: put inside humans, and then they began to exceed expectations all over again. Kanoh's hope grew, Bijuudama and mastery curtailed - not unlike what they would expect. Then people made connections with them. Not unlike the vile cattle they were, but actual friendships. These bijuu were new, though their core principals were the same. The differentiation between tool and friend only made Kanoh's mouth water at the flavour this would bring to the harvest. [break][break]
[break][break]
Taking several different iterations over time - he became interested in the petty politics of the human society, blending in as the end of days was coming. A hundred years became two hundred: and then the Akatsuki came along. Kanoh wished he had delivered it himself, but no - it was to do with Kaguya, one of their own. As Gesshoku 2 - when Kaguya was... forfeit, and 'peace' against the ultimate evil had been delivered, Kanoh delivered himself to the shadows and would wait - then taking the second seat for himself. This might had been out of their remit - out of their plans, but one that they couldn't put back under their purview. But, coming to enjoy this dance a little bit too much, Kanoh set out a design that would let him enjoy the front seat: a Daimyo. Eventually, it would become known that the mentions of their kind throughout history was enough to prove correlation between him and the dynastic line of the Kaminari no Kuni Daimyo. So, between the events of the years as they passed, Kanoh eventually became the Daimyo and given that he was immortal - he was deigned to sit on the throne.
[break][break]
Kanoh began to use his abilities less and less as he became a lazier 'Daimyo' - and eventually time faded enough that everyone forgot altogether that he had even any form of combat training - just like the 'rest' of some of the Daimyo, he began to cast his webs everywhere. The time was coming: but age was a fruitless expedition and one could not hide his age for too long. So Kanoh instituted his own death and his doppelganger took his place. Obviously it had always been him, but that had been a tumultuous few months to set up.
[break][break]
Though Kanoh looked suspiciously similar to the previous Daimyo, allegedly his father: he didn't abandon post given that their plan was nearly to fruition, Kanoh didn't suppose it minded all that much that he partied his way through to the end of this world - unfortunately, Kanoh's version of partying scarcely held up to the standards of the time. Technology was growing and so was their end goal... just in time.
