He can hardly access the beast's powers without losing control, however. The two are on speaking terms and call each other by name, but struggle to get along due to their vastly different personalities. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] KEKKEI GENKAI: STEEL RELEASE (ADEPT) [break][break] Created by combining Fire, Lightning, and Earth natures, Steel Release is a kekkei genkai that allows users to turn parts (or the entirety) of their bodies into jet-black steel possessing hardness more akin to diamond; this steel is the core of all Kurogane Clan techniques, utilizing the iron from Kurogane blood, it is nigh invulnerable to fire and can easily withstand extreme temperatures. They are able to extend their control to summon this steel external to their bodies, although most members of the Kurogane Clan simply use this ability to boost their defensive prowess. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] GENIUS KENJUTSU PRACTITIONER (MASTER) [break][break] Due the prestige associated with the group, almost every Kirigakure shinobi trains in kenjutsu from a very young age in hopes of being appointed as one of the Seven Swordsmen. Only the most skilled among them, considered ‘geniuses’ or ‘miracles’ in the art, are actually bestowed a blade by the Mizukage. Although all members of the swordsmen are masters of kenjutsu, the styles they use with their swords may vary wildly, and they are expected to understand every little detail and secret associated with their weapon to better use it in service to their village. Each member wields their blade with such mastery and efficiency that they may as well be extensions of their own bodies, and can easily overpower even the most skilled swordsmen from other villages. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] BODY CONDITIONING (EXPERT) [break][break] Harsh training grants every member of the Seven Swordsmen exceptional strength and speed. All members are physically strong and naturally fast, able to effortlessly wield their blades (even if their shapes are unwieldy and strange) ambidextrously. They often combine their kenjutsu skills with taijutsu to further increase their lethality, and are capable of holding their own with just taijutsu. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] TAIJUTSU (ADEPT) [break][break] The nature of Steel Release renders its efficacy in battle reliant on the user’s natural taijutsu ability. It is for this reason that Kurogane Clan members are trained extensively in taijutsu and made to undergo extreme body conditioning from a very young age, and this training never ceases. The clan’s oldest members have a solid grasp of nintaijutsu as a result of this constant practice. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] SUPERNATURAL DURABILITY (ADEPT) [break][break] The reinforced chakra coursing through Kurogane veins grant them superior durability against physical attacks, as well as a natural resistance against Lightning and Fire Release ninjutsu. While it is a common misconception that Steel Release users cover themselves in a "layer" of steel, they in fact transform their bodies into steel, and are thus immune to piercing techniques (especially those involving lightning release chakra, which they can easily redirect like lightning rods) and extremely resistant to techniques designed to target their tenketsu. They are able to withstand extreme temperatures, pressure, and force, but are susceptible to becoming brittle if exposed to extreme changes in temperature in a short span of time. [attr="class","nthrwrap"] [attr="class","nthrtitle"] KNOWN TECHNIQUES [attr="class","nthrinner"] [attr="class","nthrmini"] STEEL RELEASE: HACHIMAN'S ARMOR [break][break] (A-RANK // RANGE: SHORT // DURATION: 3 // CD: 2) This technique turns a part or the entirety of the user’s body into jet-black steel more durable than conventional weaponry, granting them supernatural levels of durability and drastically increasing the power of their physical attacks. The user becomes immune to blades as well as other regular tools and weaponry while this ability is in use; most shuriken and swords snap clean in half or shatter on impact. Lacking a weakness to Lightning Release ninjutsu, which they can simply redirect like a lightning rod, this technique is considered superior to Earth Release: Earth Spear. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] STEEL RELEASE: BENKEI'S STANDING DEATH [break][break] (B-RANK // RANGE: SHORT // DURATION: 2 // CD: 4) The steel in Kurogane blood consumes all others. The user becomes capable of 'eating' steel for a short period of time. With the exception of uniquely forged weapons, they are able to grab, shatter, and even swallow metals such as kunai, shuriken, and regular blades without repercussion. The steel they consume proportionately restores their chakra reserves, but does not heal physical wounds. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] FLYING SWALLOW [break][break] (B-RANK // RANGE: SHORT-MED // DURATION: 2 (unless dispelled) // CD: 4) The user augments the cutting power of their blade by flowing chakra into it, forming a dense blade of chakra around the physical blade, extending its reach. Because users of this technique can adjust the length of the chakra blade at will, opponents can never fully anticipate their attacks. The cutting power granted by this technique is enough to slide through stone, but contact must be maintained to keep its effect (ie. the weapon cannot be thrown or lost). [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] LIGHTNING RELEASE: FALSE DARKNESS [break][break] (B-RANK // RANGE: LONG // DURATION: NA // CD: 4) The user summons a lightning in the shape of a spear and launches it at an enemy. The tremendous piercing and destructive power of this technique allows it to travel cleanly through rock, increasing its killing potential. The technique can branch off into additional spears, skewering additional targets and making it difficult to evade. This technique can also be further focused into a straight and devastating beam, burning through terrain like paper. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] EARTH RELEASE: EARTH SPEAR [break][break] (B-RANK // RANGE: LONG // DURATION: 2 // CD: 5) The user concentrates earth-aspected chakra through a part of their body, causing it to darken in color. This darkened part of their body boasts exceptionally high defense and heightened physical strength, able to withstand most attacks with little to no damage. Lightning Release techniques are particularly effective at breaking through this otherwise nigh impenetrable defensive technique. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] LIGHTNING RELEASE: LIGHTNING STRIKE ARMOR [break][break] (C-RANK // RANGE: SHORT // DURATION: 3 (unless broken) // CD: 4) The user coats themselves in a thick layer of Lightning Release Chakra, creating an intense electric field that enhances their speed while protecting them from physical attacks— electrocuting those who make contact with it. Requires a fair amount of chakra to maintain. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] SAMEHADA: BLOODY MIST ABSORPTION TECHNIQUE [break][break] (B-RANK // RANGE: MED // DURATION: 3 // CD: 4) Samehada unleashes a thick red mist across the battlefield, gradually and continually absorbing chakra from all opponents’ open wounds. This mist cannot be dissipated, but its area of effect can be escaped. Chakra absorbed is returned to Samehada and in turn rejuvenates the wielder, closing their wounds and restoring vitality. If the amount of chakra absorbed is vast enough, Samehada may even help regenerate a limb. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] FIRE RELEASE: GREAT FIREBALL TECHNIQUE [break][break] (C-RANK // RANGE: MED // DURATION: NA // CD: 4) Signature technique of the Uchiha Clan. The user kneads chakra in their body into fire, which they expel from their mouth. The more chakra they use, the more flames are produced. They take the form of a giant orb until hitting a target, vaporizing its surroundings and causing extensive burns. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] EARTH RELEASE: EARTH FLOW SPEARS [break][break] (C-RANK // RANGE: MED // DURATION: 2 // CD: 4) The user stomps the ground, causing myriad spikes to erupt from beneath their target up to a medium distance away, attempting to skewer them. The earthen spikes cannot penetrate any targets or obstacles of greater density. The user can also choose to produce a single large spike instead. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] SEALING TECHNIQUE: RELEASE [break][break] (C-RANK // RANGE: NA // DURATION: NA // CD: 1) A simple but highly effective countermeasure technique used to undo fūinjutsu that may be binding the user, but requires preparation first by means of hiding a seal on one’s own body. By placing a hand directly on this counterseal, the user nullifies the effects of all fūinjutsu techniques up to C-Rank on themselves. This technique can also be used to dispel the effects of B-Rank sealing techniques on the self, but this process will take one post instead of being instantaneous. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] HALF-MOON FLASH [break][break] (C-RANK // RANGE: LONG // DURATION: NA // CD: 3) The user infuses their blade with chakra before swinging it, releasing an arc of chakra that travels forward with enough cutting power to slice through rock and run through multiple opponents in quick succession. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] ARHAT FIST [break][break] (C-RANK // RANGE: SHORT // DURATION: NA // CD: 3) The user strikes their opponent with increasingly violent physical attacks, deftly shifting their weight to throw their entire body behind each strike. The force behind these attacks is described as ‘monstrous’, easily crushing opponents if they are unable to defend. The technique involves a combination of palm, knee, and shoulder thrusts powerful enough to reduce rocks to dust. The user infuses shuriken with chakra before throwing them in the form of a barrage at a target. These shuriken rudimentarily track their target, changing their trajectory slightly to account for wind speed or target movement. While they are by no means perfectly accurate, they can easily overwhelm by surprise and sheer number. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] TEMPORARY PARALYSIS TECHNIQUE [break][break] (D-RANK // RANGE: SHORT-MED // DURATION: 2 (unless broken) // CD: 4) The user channels concentration, causing a target to experience a paralysis that feels as though they were being tied down with invisible steel ropes. A simple technique, although the strength of the binding varies significantly depending on the shinobi’s overall level of strength and control. Can stop an opponent entirely, slow them, and/or render them vulnerable to attack. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] GENJUTSU DISSIPATION [break][break] (D-RANK // RANGE: NA // DURATION: NA // CD: 1) The least harmful option for combating genjutsu is for the shinobi to stop the flow of chakra in their body, and then apply an even stronger power to disrupt the flow of the genjutsu user’s chakra. This simple yet effective technique can be used to easily break through genjutsu up to C-Rank in strength, provided the user is aware they are in a genjutsu. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] BODY FLICKER TECHNIQUE [break][break] (D-RANK // RANGE: SHORT-LONG // DURATION: NA // CD: 2) A high-speed movement technique used by shinobi to travel short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed. To an observer, it appears as if they have simply teleported. The longer the distance traveled and the bigger the difference in elevation between the start and end points, the more chakra this technique requires in order to work. Certain substances can be used as an added distraction when executing the technique. [break][break][attr="class","nthrmini"] BODY REPLACEMENT TECHNIQUE [break][break] (D-RANK // RANGE: NA // DURATION: NA // CD: 3) The instant before they are struck by an attack, the user replaces themselves wth a substitute item, leading opponents to believe that their attack landed— although this is simply an optical illusion. This technique is often used as either an opportunity to escape or as a means to distract an opponent for a counterattack. Explosive tags can be applied to the substitute item so that it explodes on hit. The user creates up to three afterimages of themselves to move alongside them. These afterimages have no substance and are incapable of damaging opponents, used only to distract or confuse an enemy while other attacks are prepared. Opponents can identify clones through careful observation, as clones won’t crush grass or kick up dust. Users cannot store items while in combat, but they can retrieve them. Though usually wrapped in bandages to restrain its growth, Samehada’s construction is atypical in that its blade is comprised of a series of downward facing, razor-sharp scales running along the entirety of its length until its hilt. A small skull adorns its base. Samehada grows larger and more ravenous in proportion to the amount of chakra in absorbs, causing its scales to become so long that they ultimately resemble shark fins. While usually hidden, Samehada has a mouth located at its ‘tip’. |
